Apart from architecture, columns can also serve as decoration for the decoration, carry a votive offering or even stand alone as a monument. In Classical Greek, Classical Roman and modern architecture, the assignment of columns and associated entablature was made by a system of five Column orders set. This system was the binding architectural design canon until the beginning of the twentieth century. In the medieval architecture of Europe developed their own design methods for pillars, which were rejected, however, after the 16th century architectural studies on ancient legacies and took the ancient architecture as a model.
All columns & pedestals are made of sturdy mineral materials (white concrete, cast stone) and hand-patinated.
